In the time I’ve lived, I’ve learned so many lessons from my parents-two different viewpoints. My Mom is more laid back. My Dad is more active. I spent two years spending just about every day visiting with Moms. Just recently, I’ve moved in with my Father. Mom showed me how to serve others. I worked to spoil my Mom-cooking, cleaning and tending to her needs. She encouraged me to develop my culinary skills and to also take pride in organizing and tidying up the home. She’s always done that, but my Moms also taught me how to be independent, to take of my property details and maintenance and to take care of my bills and responsibilities.
My Dad has also taught me about cooking, cleaning and being responsible, but in a different way. Dad cooks, I mean cooks! Homemade stuff! It almost amazed me to know that there is even a different version of flour, unbleached flour! Who knew!! Dad has a whole different mindset. He researches a lot of DYIs and tries to naturalize everything. He’s even developed a cooling system for the house by opening up doors on every floor. He refuses to use the air conditioner whenever we can get away with it. It gets warm and I didn’t think that I’d ever get used to the NC heat, but really it works, so I’m good. Dad is a different breed than Mom, so together I’ve learned so much from both of them.
Each day is a learning experience. Dad is an Electrical Encyclopedia. My Moms is a Numbers Cruncher and a Walking Calculator! So between the two of them, I have become a fully functional adult. For this, I am grateful to them both. I don’t know where I would be without them!
